A brewing spat between the information and broadcasting ministry and Jwahar Sircar, the chief of India’s public broadcaster Prasar Bharti, has become all too public --- going from relative obscurity of officialdom to prominence on Twitter.
The sticking point is “autonomy” of Prasar Bharti, the corporation that runs the state-owned Doordarshan channel. A recent government-ordered report has recommended more freedom for it.
“I&B ministry must let go, for autonomy. 1st we need professional CEO+DG, not babus. I can quit and give up.......................
