MUMBAI: A documentary film on passive euthanasia scripted by Pinki Virani will be aired on television this weekend. The author had approached the Supreme Court urging the mercy killing of KEM Hospital nurse Aruna Shanbaug who has been in a vegetative state since 1972, when she was raped by a ward boy.
The 52-minute film, Passive Euthanasia: Kahaani Karuna Ki, has stylized sequences using actor-dancer Nupur Gandhekar from Bangalore. Shot in Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai, it will be screened on Doordarshan's national network at 6.30pm on Sunday.
