Prasar Bharati board is understood to have cleared the name of Ranjan Thakur as the director general of national broadcaster Doordarshan. With the incumbent DD director-general Tripurari Sharan set to leave the present assignment, Mr Thakur is expected to take over later this month. A senior Indian Railway Traffic Service officer, Mr Thakur, has earlier served as private secretary to former Union information and broadcasting minister Ambika Soni and has been serving as additional director general in Doordarshan ever since.
