Prasar Bharti chief Jawhar Sircar wants policies reviewed

Jawhar Sircar, the Chief Executive Officer of Prasar Bharati, feels the public broadcaster's policies are old and need to be reviewed.

Sircar made the remarks on the policies following reports about the All India Radio 'sacking' of 100 radio jockeys earlier this month, only because they were aged above 35 years.

The RJs, working at the stations FM Rainbow and FM Gold in Kolkata were sacked after a communication from the AIR director general. "We are studying in detail how this policy has been implemented over the last 20 years and why it was so imperative now. We need to know both versions and how other dozen FM companies run so professionally," Sircar told Mail Today.
