Multi-system operators (MSOs) and cable operators are required to mandatorily carry 24 channels of Doordarshan in DAS areas and eight channels in non-DAS areas, as per a Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) notification dated September 5, 2013.

Prasar Bharati has informed that some MSOs and cable operators are not carrying mandatory channels and the quality of retransmission of TV channels of Doordarshan by some MSOs is inferior as they take Doordarshan signals from the Ku-Band DTH service of Doordarshan.
