Media must have penal provisions for irresponsible reporting, says Javadekar

MUMBAI: While batting for self-regulation, Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Minister Prakash Javadekar said that the media industry should have provisions for penal action for irresponsible reporting in their self-regulatory mechanisms. Javadekar said that the self-regulatory mechanisms put in place by the media needs to be improved to maintain accountability and responsibility of the fourth pillar of democracy.
