Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declared 'minimum government, maximum governance' as his goal. To this end he has begun restructuring ministries. Meanwhile, minister for information and broadcasting Prakash Javadekar has declared that he is willing to work towards the abolition of his ministry.
Javadekar's comments echo the sentiments of former I&B minister — Manish Tewari of Congress — who said that the ministry belonged to a past era. It's not often that ministers plead for abolition of their ministries. But here are two successive ministers, from opposed ideological camps, who feel the same way.
