All India Radio (AIR), Kohima, today celebrated 50 years of public service broadcasting in Nagaland.
The celebration was marked by unveiling of monolith at the AIR Kohima station by state Governor Ashwani Kumar in presence of Prasar Bharati CEO Jawhar Sircar and other officials.
AIR Kohima was commissioned on January 4, 1963 as the 36th station in the country amidst political unrest in Naga inhabited areas at a makeshift hill type rented house.
